Fun Way to Measure with Non-Standard Units
YPlay Learning Resources for Kids June 02, 2020
What is a non-standard unit?
Any unit or item that is not a standard metric or customary unit used to measure something. In order words, anything you have that is not a ruler, tape measure, or other common measurement device.
You will need:
- Non-standard units (anything you have on hand)
- Things (or people) to measure
How to play:
- Collect household items that you can use to measure things. You can use markers, crayons, paperclips, playing cards or anything that you have a lot of.
- Pick something (or someone) to measure, and guess how many of your items it will take to measure.
- Start measuring.
